I pretty much knew that Bush had screwed the pooch for the GOP and Obama was going to win. It was all but certain. I also told everyone that they would be disappointed if they expected much in the way of change other than personality.
I am certain that the the western powers are more comfortable with Obama and we have an opportunity to work closer for common goals. Of course, our enemies feel the same toward us.
I wasn't happy with Bush and I am not delighted with Obama, but so far he hasn't done anything that makes him an enemy of the state imo.
There is no lesson to be learned from this beyond the fact that governmentally we are a very stable country and average to below average men like Bush and Obama will not change that.
Those expecting sea change will continue to be disappointed and the rest of us will continue to search for Mr. Goodbar. Our system has become so complex nothing much ever changes more than nuance, and of course, rethoric.
Our political system is beginning to remind me of 1984 when nations fought endlessly for a small patch of ground that had no real value beyond political symbolism.
