re: Baloney

Without "adherence to some theory," you get what you've got now. A society that is run by people who believe that reason should have nothing to do with politics.

Imagine trying to build an airplane without dealing with theory. It can be done, by primitive observation and experiment, but you crash one hell of a lot of planes along the way.

You want something that "works for people." Is the Bush bailout working? The Obama "stimulus?" And I'm sorry, but I'm a bit too smart to believe a politician telling me "it would have been a lot worse without it" with absolutely no supporting evidence that this is true, and a lot of evidence that it isn't.

You still think what the government is doing now, or what they did last year, was all about fixing the economy? If it had been, the bailouts would have had the restrictions you wanted, instead of piping cash to connected financial institutions. The "stimulus" bill would have been about actual economic stimulation instead of simply paying off political interest groups. Health care reform would be about concern for that fraction of the population that truly needs help, not about absorbing the entire system into the State.

A powerful government creates corruption. It doesn't fix it.
