Not physically.
But by taking charge in an emergency. It's a long story, one I have often tried, and failed, to put to paper. One of the craziest weekends of my life.
Nutshell: Senior in high school. On a weekend school field trip. A fellow student is having a medical emergency late at night involving alcohol poisoning and a serious head wound. I'm doing first aid. Blood and vomit everywhere. Teacher arrives and advises a rather unserious course of action. I firmly told him what his options were and that he better get on doing them, Now! He basically snapped to attention and went to work following my orders to get the kid to the hospital.
The guy lived. But he wouldn't have, according to the hospital, had we followed the teacher's initial plan of just putting him to bed.
I got suspended from school for a week. Which was a nice vacation, actually.
