Big spiders don't bother me so much- it is the tiny ones that I have a problem with...
When I was a child we often had wolf spiders get in the house... no big deal, just pick them up with a paper towel and toss them out...
When I was maybe 14 I saw a big wolf spider on the floor, so I grab a tissue and reach down to grab it...as soon as I grab it, it explodes... suddenly countless TINY spiders were swarming over my hand and up my arm.
You see, the wolf spider is a devoted parent- it carries its young on its body - and when I grabbed it all of a sudden I was carrying them on MY body... I have no real issues with spiders as long as I can see where they are, but when they are nearly invisibly small they can be crawling ANYWHERE... it was a traumatic experience... for days I could feel them crawling on me (all imagined, of course) ... so tiny spiders are my phobia.
