Amazing stories, RL, especially the second one.
Our reflexes can be astonishing. As you know, I am a pretty good juggler, and will catch things falling that will surprise me how fast my hand moves without me even thinking.
I don't know if you knew this, but about two weeks after your class ended back in '89, I was in a pretty wild car accident. Was going down to Colorado Springs to finalize some things, hit a patch of new highway with a nice coat of rain. Hydroplaned off the highway.
I fought the skid for a couple of micro seconds, but lost control staring back up the direction I had come. At that point, I took my hands off the wheel and let Newton drive. The car flipped but came to rest with the dirty side down and I walked away with only a bruise. Seat belt only. That moment of letting go is etched into my memory. It was the right thing to do.
