I say let the banks run make their loans without the government subsidies, and get the Federal government out of the loan business except, perhaps, for the seriously income-challenged.
First thing you'd see would be college costs coming back down again. As I've shown in other posts, market forces raise prices on subsidized goods. College costs have already displayed this trend, as seen in this chart.
Oddly, you don't get nearly the indignation from the academic Left about this cost increase as you do about others. Wonder why.
