Re: absolute power over every economic activity

I said it, and I meant it.

You get a lot of mileage out of the word "regulation," in much the same way as the Democrats get mileage out of the word "reform."

It's a nice sounding word, implying a cop quietly directing traffic, or laws against putting sawdust in sausage without labeling it. It isn't "regulation" any more when the cop claims the power to tell everyone in the cars what their destinations should be, what kind of car they can drive, or whether or not they have the right to drive at all. Buck, we have a Pay Czar!

"Regulation" without limits by the Federal government, overriding state and local authority, is absolute control, and when the Federal government claims the authority to regulate every damn thing you do, whether they decide to act on it or not, where does that leave us?

P.S. I think a tipping point for me was the lightbulbs. Like the tea tax, the law in itself was not that significant, but it represented a level of Federal authority that was almost ludicrous. The tipping point itself was when so many people told me that it was right and proper for our overlords to command us what kind of lightbulb to buy.
