they just don't do it here in the zone, they do it every chance they get in every place they can.

read this carefully and you will recognize every one of the tactics mentioned in the article as having been employed by some of our winger friends right here in the zone, even some of the specific events, incidents and theories. the right has been able to coordinate their brand of revisionism using a ring of media outlets, websites, press organizations, "think tanks", personalities and other propaganda organs so they speak with a consistent chorus of voices, all preaching the same drab vision of history and grim view of human nature, making up historical fiction to document it as they go along, and then footnoting each other as justification for their fantasies. and now they are attempting to pull the habitable zone into this same orbit of satellites, pumping out the same message. and to distract from this program, they accuse the "other side" of doing the same thing.

but there is no "other side", there never was. there is a broad spectrum of political thought; the far right occupies only one tiny but recognizable location on its extreme, but they are doing everything they can to make sure it is the only voice that is heard, the only position that is listened to, to exaggerate its influence and importance. everyone else, regardless of their position on that spectrum, is conveniently lumped into one position, "the left", even moderate republicans and reasonable conservatives. you can see what they're doing to discredit and demonise david frum because he won't toe the party line, and how coordinated and similar are their attacks on him, starting with (surprise, surprise), the wsj and ending right here on the zone. they cannot tolerate any dissidents; they are doing everything they can to split the intellectual universe into two parts, communism, and themselves, and you can count on them painting themselves as the middle ground, the very soul of moderation and reason.
