There is a major fallacy in your first paragraph, and one, perhaps two, in your second.
To put is as simply as I can, your premise seems to be based on the choice between the government running things, or a single giant corporation running things.
There is indeed a "middle ground." We passed it heading in the direction of statism many years ago, and people like you show no signs at all that we shouldn't be moving faster in the same direction.
