this is the very essence of the conservative vision of "liberty". only those who own or control commercial enterprises should be the ones who have the "freedom" to decide how the society's goods and services, prices and employment, are created and distributed, regardless of what collateral social consequences may result. somehow, once they are the sole controllers of those functions, all other social relations will automatically fall into place, as if by magic.
according to them, the so-called "free market" will automatically step in and place constraints and limits on abuse and ensure a commercial environment free of exploitation and crime. in other words, the caste that devotes itself to the understanding, manipulation and subversion of that free market tells us it is free to do what it pleases because that same market somehow magically regulates their activities.
if you're looking for a working definition of fascism, you can't get any better than that.
you can't reason or talk to these people, buck (as your frustration in the previous post indicates). they are not champions of a philosophical position that they sincerely believe will promote the greatest good for the greatest number. they are methodically attempting to devise an environment favorable to their own specific class interests.
they are not scientists, they are engineers. they do not seek out understanding, they are working towards an end. and they are not above co-opting all the emotional and psychological tools they can to accomplish this end: family devotion, patriotism, religion, and fear.
