Re: canola oil

I must have tried every last "smart eating" frozen food in the grocery store. They exhibit the "visible yummy" factor seen in fast food posters - what's on the box looks a hell of a lot better than what's in the box, and probably tastes better, too.

To give them credit, they do the best they can with spices, onions, and especially peppers, but there's only so much you can do without fats, salt, and sugar.

When my ancestors were fuzzy and had much larger incisors, it was all about catching and eating fatty, salty little critters and picking sweet-tasting colorful fruit. Takes a lot to get past that. But hey, we probably have the energy available to carnivores to thank for intelligence. Maybe the fruit diet to thank for color vision? I have a horrible feeling that the appeal of "crispy" foods might be insect-related...

I'm no health fanatic, but I try where I can. I've cut down on canned soda, and generally go for plain iced tea now. Fortunately, you can even get it at most fast food joints, and when I'm eating the fries, I can at least congratulate myself on skipping a big shot of sugar water. 2 percent milk.
