I have been thinking about Tom's post for a few days.
Several years ago I would post on current events fairly often, not as frequently as Tom and not as well controlled but politics still had some interest for me. Oh, and current events is essentially politics, even thyough there are other things that qualify as current events.
I think there has been a blurring of the lines between the parties and both sides are greatly disenchanted with their guys. The left was so hopeful when Obama was elected only to see that while his methods are leftist he has not made any dramatic changes. It seems that he could be a one termer and the only thing that favors the continued congressional majority is the right's ambivalence with their own.
We are in dangerous times with no capable leader on the horizon and confidence in our government (congress) at an all time low.
It is hard to say if we really need that capable leader or if it would be dangerous for him to emerge at this time.
