I still think his ideas are worthy and could be of great benefit to the country.
This folds very nicely (and a bit ironically) in with the "it can't happen here" exchange on this other thread.
Obama (and the Democratic congressional leadership) are essentially classic socialists, having so far attempted to clamp rigid government controls onto the health care system, the energy industry, the financial industry, and any number of other industries. The acceptance with which this is received shows how far we've gone along that path.
After the next two elections, I fully expect Obama's allies to settle into the rationalization that if only he had been able to go all the way with his ideas, everything would have been swell. But those damn Republicans and ignorant voters spoiled everything.
