If we had thought this way during the Cold War, the planet would be covered pretty thickly today by Soviet satellite states. Radical Islam isn't the same kind of enemy, but it's not one that we can just leave alone outside our borders. The Soviets weren't crazy enough to lob a nuke at New York. I wish I could say the same about the current leader of Iran.
