Re: broken record

I have to be a "broken record." You could bounce a neutrino off of some skulls.

As for "infrastructure" - a benevolent buzzword for union labor pork with cement - states and localities are supposed to be responsible for their own highways, roads, pipelines, canals, transmission lines, utilities, dams, you name it. And they were, for many successful years.

Lately it's become fashionable for states that can't seem to handle their own money to sponge off of Uncle Sugardaddy to pay for their responsibilities. What's not to like for state politicians? You get the credit and the bill gets picked up by people in states that can handle their money. A lot of the "stimulus" fell into this category, and you can bet any future Obama projects will, too.

In short, the Federal government shouldn't even be doing infrastructure, unless it's on the interstate highways or military bases.

And let us not forget, the Federal government has no goddam money. So we need more spending??

And then of course, there's the pure pork projects like mass transit, which gives construction people jobs for a while then sucks up tax money year after year for the rest of time.

You really want construction to take off, talk to the environmental movement. In my state, they're the ones who squash most of the privately-funded projects.
