Tom, neither of us knows where they got these utensils. You've jumped to a conclusion. Some of the illegal loggers may have left them behind. They do have them and choose to use them. And that's the whole point. It should be their choice whether they join civilization or not. If we force it onto them, they may end up like the Native American population of the US, their culture gone, their language gone, they knowledge of old ways trampled on and ridiculed. They may have seen some of civilization and chosen to go no further. If you want to make their lives easier, leave some things for them that might help them. OTOH, keep in mind that anything left behind might end up being something they would end up fighting one another for (we don't know if they share or covet what would be considered riches). The Star Trek universe was not created with the Prime Directive without thought behind it. You can't know what some little thing will change, create, or ultimately lead to. Maybe one day they'll walk out of the jungle on their own but I doubt it. Modern life and civilization would scare the crap out of them. Hell, it scares the crap out of ME sometimes. But I HAVE to live here.
I would bet that none of the natives have diabetes or heart disease or any of the other modern diseases that kill us because of our life-styles, and diets. Nor do they probably kill each other over religion although I could always be wrong on that.
This has created an idea for a new Spec Fic novel, a what if? story. Heh. I love these conversations that spark my imagination.
