More NSDAP sophistry.

For years you have used the technique of dismissing any leftist proposal or comment by implying it was simply slightly modified Stalinism. And when it is pointed out to you that is as cheap a shot as accusing all conservatives of being Nazis, simply because they are on the Right side of the spectrum, you counter that the Nazis are not really on the other side at all, that they are indistinguishable from Soviets.

The fact that both the Communists and Nazis were brutal dictatorships does not imply they had to be identical, or even similar, in political ideology. Politics is not a one dimensional axis, there are at least two, possibly more, dimensions.

THAT is the concept which you try to establish, that there is only one dimension, that Left is bad, so therefore any amount of Left is bad. Therefore Right is good, and there is no such thing as too much Right. If Soviet Communism is an example of a pathological extreme of socialism that even moderate Leftists can concede, then you are denying them the opportunity to counter with an example of Naziism as a pathological extreme of the Right.

In other words, you are reframing the argument by seizing the definition. And that is not only unfair debating technique, it is bad technique because everyone can see right through it except the True Believers on your side.

There is a Left and Right, and all governments and economic systems contain elements of both. Citizens can argue where to draw the line between the two, or even whether one is in general preferable to the other, but your attitude makes it impossible to make any comment about either except to reject one totally and embrace the other completely. There is only your interpretation, and the wrong interpretation. Not only do you accept no middle ground, you dichotomize an extremely complex issue into either YOUR SIDE, or EVIL. It's an emotional response, and you hide that aspect of it by burying your opinions with footnotes.

There is no way I can expect you to believe this, but to me it is clear your attitude is indeed religious fundamentalism, of the most intransigent variety. To you, every new translation of Scripture is obviously the work of the Devil and must be cast out without be opened, much less read. You are so bogged down in dogma you have lost all trace of spirituality. Talking politics to you is like trying to reason with a Creationist. To you, your opponents are not just mistaken, they are evil. Or fools. Actually, I prefer being evil.

And please don't tell me my remarks stem solely from my hatred of private property, my eagerness to raise taxes, or my love of tyranny.
