I think the general pattern of things you're focused on in your waking life affects your dreams. It's reasonable to think that retirement has taken a lot of the pressure off you. I'm going on 58, and still have to work on constructing some kind of career that can take over if my wife takes a turn for the worse and can't work anymore (not inevitable, but possible). I'm on something like Plan G.
My Plan A, back in my 30s, was to be living on the stock dividends in my old age from a successful startup space company. Several startups later, I'm just looking for some steady contracts or a decent-selling book. I was making decent money while they were going concerns, so I have no real gripes.
Would have been nice to be rich, though.
My dreams almost always involve some kind of difficult task I'm supposed to be doing. There are times I wake up and go, "Damn, am I glad I don't have to finish THAT."
