I can tell that a lot of people of science will disagree with you.

I've been in therapy and have had a lot of the Aha! experiences. I can tell you that I frequently dream in puns. You start with the premise that all parts of a dream will represent some aspect of yourself and go from there. Of course, there are the clairvoyant and precognitive dreams that depart from this. I didn't really believe in clairvoyant dreams until my Dad had one. My Mom and sister and I were going out of town to shop. At the very last minute my grandmother decided to go with us. My father had specifically been told that she was not going. On the way home, we had a close call, almost a horrible accident, some damn car forcing us off the road. My Dad was taking a nap at home and sat straight up. He had just "seen" this almost accident in a dream. In our car he saw all of us including Grandmother but he described the other car right down to color, make and model. And he dreamed it at he exact time it was happening to us. Scared the crap out of him. Trust me, my Dad was a pragmatist and didn't believe in stuff like that.

Sometimes a dream is just a dream. OTOH there are dreams I have had that have led me to realizations about myself that were helpful. There are a lot of people out there that benefit from dream analysis, that is, as long as the analyst is a good one. My sister was good and so was I, though out of practice now. She and I studied it together so that we each could help each other with dreams.

I can't convince you of the value of it and won't waste time trying. I just know that it all fits together, it has its basis in chemistry and physical reality and that it helps a lot of people.
