Well, I don't disagree with your initial premise, but it still doesn't tell me how analyzing dream symbols can lead to any insight about what you're concerned about that you don't realize. I'm not even sure I swallow the concept about people not knowing what is upsetting them. And the idea some dream symbol will lead to an AHA! moment makes even less sense. I don't believe people hide what's bothering them from themselves. I just can't accept that. I think they hide it from others because they are embarassed to admit it.
"The road represents your marriage, and the covered bridge is the secrets you and your spouse keep from each other, and the farmer in the wagon is the child that died, he's blocking the road because you've never resolved the issues brought on when he died...". Honestly, how can anyone take this stuff seriously?
Yeah, I love snakes, they are beautiful, fascinating creatures. It's cockroaches and hyenas I really hate. But I've never dreamt about a snake. I've never dreamt about cockroaches or hyenas, either. So what does that prove?
