I don't know about Bill Gates philanthropy, which you never seem to fail to bring up as a justification for your tax policy. But I do know about my own position. Through no fault of my own it's become increasingly difficult for me to work and even harder to get health insurance. It's not just my prosperity and dignity at stake, my family's life depends on this, even though I have paid into the system all my life by working, paying taxes, playing by the rules, paying my bills, obeying the law and...other things.
I recognize the country is in trouble, and I am willing to sacrifice something for the general welfare, both in higher taxes and benefit cuts. After all, as I've said before, I don't begrudge school taxes even though I have no children. I figure its part of my patriotic duty.
But I find out that the top elites and their wannabees want no part of this, in fact, they want to cut back on their contribution, precisely during this difficult time, because they are the only ones who produce everything and the rest of us are just slackers and parasites.
Ain't gonna happen, Jack.
