I'm making pretty well right now. In fact, I'm making more now than I ever have in my entire life. I went back to school, and spent my own money in order to get more education and training. Why did I do this? To make more money, of course. I want to be wealthy one day, and it's a dream of mine that I strive to achieve. But how can I ever hope to get there if they start taking at least half of what I earn? What's the point in make $30 an hour if I'm only bringing home $15 an hour? At some point, the law of diminishing returns simply makes the added headache and responsibilities at work not worth the effort.
You want to know how raising taxes on upper incomes slow an economy? It does so by turning otherwise productive and driven individuals into uncaring, slacker assholes who don't see the point in busting their asses for nothing.
