If you were upset that half the population was being labeled as immoral, evil or bereft of all sense or self-respect, your indignation was justified.
I am not happy with the conservatives, but I won't go so far as to lay all that on them. I think a corporate-run state with corporate-run media and corporate-run everything else is not a good thing. I think the people that support it, and are willing to die for it, are misguided. But I don't think they're bad people at heart.
I don't think liberals are bad people at heart either, even when misguided.
But slamming half the population - either half - with unkind generalizations doesn't help anything. Only seems to make things worse.
In this case, it was enough to get two fine people with non-conservative viewpoints to depart a conservative-dominated board. Healthy debate in Habitable Zone just took two major hits as a result of some thoughtless slurs.
If you spoke up on that issue, you deserve some credit and certainly don't owe anyone an apology.
