And now a word from your local cynic...

You can quote statistics until the cows come home, and quote papers and studies on education all day.

The simple truth is that vouchers are opposed by the Democratic leadership for the same reason that privatizing Social Security is opposed by Democrats: it reduces the power of the central government. Whether people are educated or not is completely irrelevant to them. In fact, the last thing many Washington Democrats want to see is an educated electorate.

Has anyone ever considered that maybe they want the black poor and uneducated right where they are? Staying on the ol' plantation and harvesting those votes? The maybe the worst enemy of a Democratic politician is an educated, wealthy black person?

And remember what I've written many times before: every policy, proposal, platform plank, law, position, and regulation from the Democratic Party has had one single goal: absolute power over every aspect of our lives. And as with many leftist rulers througout history, the quality of those lives is largely irrelevant.

To simplify even further:

Increases central government power: Democrat Party is for it.

Decreases central government power: Democratic Party opposes it.

If there have been any exceptions to the previous two sentences, I have not seen it. Anyone else want to point one out?
