Re: Let's use common sense

Life is an evolution thing, isn't it?
From two different sources, it becomes a bunch of cells that multiply, multiply, differenciate and progressively become specialized.
A foetus goes through all the stages of evolution in nine months. It even hasn't developed it's personality at birth.
While in the womb, Broca's area is being formed and both the brain's hemisphere get connected.
During the foetus phase, it's not more a human than most animals. And we are not ashamed of hunting them, killing them.

Until the age of 3, a baby doesn't have a consciousness of itself; it's the parietal lobe that gives our sense of space and time and of the fact that we are different from our environment. It's also from about the age of three that we remember things.

There are no definitive answer as to when a foetus becomes a human being or even what a human being really is. The foetus evolves, meaning at one point, it was much less evolved than at another point, that is much less like humans.

Concerning the death penalty: well, we all die eventually, don't we?
So, inflicting a life in jail sentence is far more devastating to the sanity and one's self confidence and perspective than abruptly terminating one's life.
