Re: Death penalty

As a self-defined Libertarian to be consistent, you have to oppose the death penalty.

Under the basic social contract the state gets its authority ceded to it by the consent of the governed.

By definition you can't give away something you don't have.

If the people do not have the authority to take away someone's life, they cannot give this authority to the state.

As a strict constuctionalist, you must oppose the death-penalty being imposed by any state of which you are a part.
