Go back and look at who was running the "banking system" a few years back. More specifically, the mortgage system that caused all the trouble. Start with the heads of Fannie Mae -- invented by your New Deal heroes -- and its most fervent defenders in government.
Pay particular attention to people like Raines, who bought most of the bad paper, and made millions personally while Democratic politicians ran interference for him in Congress. Or his predecessor James A. Johnson, a major Democratic supporter and Obama advisor.
