Its like team sports. The teams are different, and they play very hard for the prize, but it really doesn't matter who wins unless you're in the game and on the payroll. We may all have political opinions, but my ideal form of government is just as unlikely to arise out of our political culture as yours is.
I may defend my political ideals, or attack yours, but they have little to do with the parties in power, and how they are funded, or how they distribute their patronage. The founding fathers got one thing right: they feared factions.
Politics isn't about "winning one for the gipper", it's more like the locker rooms at Penn State.
