Maybe not entirely on their own. That’s why I wasn’t opposed to ‘a’ stimulus. The government taking action gives the people a sense that those in charge are doing ‘something’. It lessens the fear that drives the recession along.
I doubt they’ll let the western economy go down the drain. As long as it’s circling the bowl, the powers that be will try to fish it out of the toilet.
House as a cash reservoir? A savings account maybe but not an ATM.
"Nest egg" means you keep something in the nest. It doesn't mean you eat one every time it gets laid.
You’re right about debt though. There’s blame to go around. Total US consumer debt was $2 ½ Trillion last year. Total private debt was $36 Trillion. I assume the private debt is used to pay for business capital.
