You scrapped your work because you made a mistake? Not the best way to go about things. My recommendation is that you do a lot more research on the subject of space colonization. Many of the things you are trying to work out on your own have already been researched and calculated by others. At the very least, you can save yourself some work. Then, once you have the body of research in hand, you can look at it and see if you have an approach they might not have seen, or a different way to do something that could be better. Keep plugging!
