Re: Are We Doomed By Family Disfunctionality?

In my career in space development I have run across a large number of space enthusiasts, most of which were quite intelligent. I also noted that most of these space enthusiasts, especially the smartest ones, seemed to be a little on the, well, eccentric side. Think of all the major well-known space supporters you can think of, and then take a quick look at their personalities.

There is a well-know phrase to describe a person who's not exactly riding the center of the beam, one version of which goes "he's a taco short of a family pack."

I think it is also true that one can have too many tacos to fit easily in the box.

I think a lot of space enthusiasts are just a little bit crazy, and have to be allowed for to some extent.

Including me.

Fortunately for us, since if we were totally sane we would have gone into accounting or civil engineering instead of trying to pull off something which is so obviously impossible, like private space transportation.
