Re: Comments on Sagan
Well and fairly said, Gary.
Sagan was very publicity conscious from the start, even at Harvard, according to folks I know here in MA. He did legit planetary science oriented research, as did hundreds of others. His best skills were as a popularizer, and I'm thankful for them. I own his hardcover books. However, I never respected him for the fact that he always had thinly veiled agendas, mostly himself and secondly socialist politics which unforgivably influenced some of his scientific papers. A flawed human being whose legacy of popularization of space science is sorely missed.
