Re: what?

<...hey, no model is perfect

That's easy for you to say, now that there's an all-volunteer military. When I turned 18 and got my draft lottery number, my only choice would have been to present myself for induction to serve in a war in which I honestly did not believe, or flee my country. Nobody consulted me. How does that differ from slavery? You'd have been a slave back then, and you might better appreciate emancipation through universal sufferage.

I think thats an invalid relation. . . The right to vote was a byproduct of the social movement as was their estabishment in the economy.

No! And you're fundamentally misunderstanding the relationship between freedom and free enterprise. Free people improve themselves; the disenfranchised and enslaved don't. Read Adam Smith, dammit.

After women were given the vote, their educational level improved steadily thereafter. You're reversing cause and effect when you say that they needed to be educated first before they could vote. Their exercize of political power made it unconscionable to not extend the benefits of education to women. Because only the vote finally made them full citizens entitled to an education. It could not have happened the other way around.

however I would make one modification to Toms scheme I would set the vote gradient exponentially. . .

Interesting. If I were the guy who could set the slope of the discount curve, I would wield vast political power as the tip of the curve whipped around franchising and disenfranchising large blocs of political power as I controlled the ratio of wealth to power.

Universal democracy is a lot simpler.
