Per Bowser:
No one needs more than so much money.
This is, of course, not at all true.
There are a lot of people who "need" a lot of things I do not, including money. They're hooked on what they need, and they desperately need -- whatever it happens to be. Others need what they have to stay alive, or to stay in business, or to live the life they have happily become accustomed to. Bowser’s apparent “need” to impose limits on others is actually what the government already does.
"No, I'm sorry. You've reached your limit. From now until the end of the year, anything you make is mine."
The above is the reason retirees tend not to take on the obvious advantages of full time second careers. Social Security will pay only so much, and at some point, the retiree will "need" to take a prolonged vacation, or lose the money he would either make at an honest, second job, or lose the money he has already deposited to Social Security in safekeeping for his “retirement” -- which translated to age 65, whether he retires or not. The only two ways around this fact are:
* get a second job where the Social Security income would be so miniscule as to not matter at all.
* have a mindset where you really don’t care how much/how little money you make
The government doesn’t want grandpa and grandma to be happy, animated contributors to their community. The government wants them stripped of their possessions and dumped into a care facility, preferably one that a Social Security check will cover. This is the preferred method. An acceptable alternative is to have them burden their children (provided they even have children) for another 30 years.
It's a crock, but forcing this limit on the masses keeps the comparatively few kids on Capitol Hill comfy -- including those over 65.
"Yes, you can have a swimming pool, but you're not allowed to fill it."
“Yes, you can have a bank account, but only the one -- and we’ll only insure up to $10,000.”
So -- who DOES set the limit here? Bowser?
