Hey Tom,
There is one major problematic involved in watching Bush et al sink into the mud as you mentioned. None of us will be able to avoid the dry cleaner bill.
I wonder about the sense of understanding and ethical morality of those that challenge the right of the state of Israel to exist. Clearly, this should be a point beyond rational debate.
Israel has gone beyond tender love and now is in a tough love stance. Remember Israel offered Palestine the land and the plan for their own state back in 1999. Palestine thought they could get more if they held out and would have Jerusalem thrown in on the deal.
Israel has learned the hard lesson that just wanting peace doesn't work. Both sides must be willing to negotiate in good faith. Arafat and his murderous thugs in Hamas have never been willing to negotiate and accept as a precondition that Israel has the right to exist.
The Israelis are very good soldiers. I am confidant that if they were looking for a large Palestinian body count and destruction they could accomplish this without putting themselves in harms way as they have. Instead they have been going from house to house to ferret out the vermin they know have been involved in some way or the other with the suicide bombings. Frankly this particular leftist would feel Israeli military justified to turn to a total strategic destruction and destabilization of the Palestinian occupied territory and drop the offer of independent statehood for Palestine.
Publius-the hawkish left wing liberal!
