The southern democrats (at least the common sterotype) left the democratic party for good in the early Reagan years. They had been slowly leaving the party for over a decade before that. Many republicans, men like Bob Barr and Trent Lott to name just a couple, have welcomed them into the gop ranks with open arms.
Sure the gop was good on voting for Civil Rights way back when. But for nearly 3 decades the repubs have been the party of choice for southern white supremists. That's the facts. Can you say "David Duke"? What do YOU think of the gop welcoming in "every damn school-door-blocking, axe-handle-wielding, Southern redneck that would die before they would see any nigras in their schools and neighborhoods"?
