Byrd is a relic; a throwback. Basically an aberation in the political world much like liberal republicans are. Byrd made a fool of himself with his comment and I agree with you he deserves to pay the political price. It doesn't change the fact that the repubs are now the home for the white supremist crowd. Trent Lott and Bob Barr gave keynote addresses to white supremist groups. I would rank that deliberate action far worse than a distasteful slip of the tongue. And contrary to your outcrys about unfairness I haven't seen either Lott or Barr tarred and feathered yet. I guess their constituency doesn't mind. Hmmmmm...
