Well, you don't expect the gov't to do it.

And then have the Rs put the guy up for the Senate.

Drugs are a helluva problem, and to legalize them is a tempting idea. The problem with drugs is that only about 12% of the population will have a problem with them. It's a genetic thing, and there's no difference to the appropriate brain chemistry between alcohol, marijuana, cocaine, amphetamines and narcotics. None. LSD and inhalants are a bit different.

However, they do take out that 12%.

The jail facilities which would be freed would be occupied by folks stealing, carjacking, and so on.

Might as well legalize murder, because that's what the effect would be. The only way drugs will be eliminated is to eliminate the demand, and that requires accountability and that's not what's happening enough.

You need to bust the dealers and users, period. Put them into Work Release so that they can work.

AND DON'T FALL FOR THE BLEEDING HEART, "I'VE GOT SIX KIDS, NEVER DONE THIS BEFORE" bull-oney. You do it, you go. Now. Period.

You rat out the next guy, you save yourself 5 years. You don't, your choice.

And I'd vote for two positive urinalysis drug screens being enough proof.

Period.

But legalize them at your peril. Look to banning alcohol first. Talk about a date-rape drug. The one they made illegal occurs naturally in the brain.

And watch the stoners come at me on this one.
