The CIA and Ollie North were trafficking in drugs, and using the profit to buy arms for the Contras. In fact, North "blew" one sting when the plane was in the air which would have exposed this. Had the DEA not been able to contact the plane, the crew, good guys on our side, would have been killed thanks to that guy.
