Here is where our macho American culture vs Europe hurts us. The pols feel that we'd be giving in and surrendering. We would be, but why not pick your battles? I regard most drug use as not much different than drinking alcohol. Yah, we don't need more social problems but decriminalizing drugs would make for safer cities and would eliminate drug dealing as the preferred high income route for ghetto kids. Lotsa folks wouldn't be in jail. No more rich bastards from drug dealing and the ancillary physical crime that enforces their business.
Me I do drink at times but not to excess yet I would have zero plans to take suddenly decriminalized drugs. Heck, I avoid asprin and it's probably good for me.
