And what about location?

In Southern California it's pretty easy to blow 50k on paying the rent - and we're not talking beachfront property either just 4BR 3BA 2car garage in a decent neighborhood.

Spend 50k on a new Lincoln "L" Town Car.

Add 12k for insurance and DMV fees, conservatively.

Blow another 5k on gas/electric utilities.
----------------------------
Thats 117k blown right there.

That 200k earned which after taxes is about 140-150k depending upon whether you dare take a deduction or two.

So now 150k
-117k
------------------
leaves 33k for food, gas travel and miscellaneous expenses.

Is that being filthy "rich"?

Today, I saw an article complaining about Helms and Thurmond retiring with a 105k annuity - and that they would be living the "luxury life". After decades of service to the country 105k was "too much!"

I had to stifle a laugh. They can't live the good life in California on that annuity!

Yes, the more you earn - the more they take and the more it ticks you off. You earn a million and you're lucky if you can keep the government from grabbing 400k of that. What did the government do to earn that 400k? Does one get 400k worth of better services? Do the firemen wear white gloves and respond to your house fire a minute faster?

Earn two million...etc..and they just keep grabbing it...and it begins to feel evil and obscene that they can take that much of your money and then have the gall to audit you and try and take some more...all while the people are being conditioned to call you "evil" and think of you as some monster because you worked and figured out a way to earn some bucks?

Then folks sneer about giving you, and the others like you, living the American goal, a tax cut?

"Evil Republicans...look at their priorities!"

Yep.

I sure as heck know how to put 400k to better use and back into circulation than the government. heck just depositing that money in a bank already funds more housing, entrepreneur funding and local and national growth! Not just feeding the bureaucrats.

Yet that's evil.

Oh yeah....big time.

As Lindy would say...

"Puullleeease!"
