Well, - - -

GWB accused it of being part of the "axis of evil", and started making threats against those countries. Preemptive strikes if the US doesn't like you.

GWB cut off the supplies of fuel oil which were used to generate electricity to replace that of the reactor which had been shut down.

Now, the North Koreans are looking at that reactor and wondering why they don't use it to generate electricity now that they don't have more conventional means.

And what would you do? Leave the reactor there, not generate electricity?

Secondarily, that reactor can be used to manufacture plutonium which can be made into nuclear weapons. They already had two of them. So, you need the electricity, and will start stacking up plutonium.

After seeing what the US does to countries without nuclear weapons, would you try to get them in order to discourage an invasion from the US?

Why do you think the US is on the verge of invading Iraq, which doesn't have nukes, which DOES have UN inspectors, and is complying, however begrudgingly, and

NOT talking of invading North Korea, which does have nukes and doesn't have inspectors?

Nope. They got painted into a corner, probably both by their actions and the ill-advised "axis of evil", you're either for us or against us, you do without electricity, and we'll preemptively strike anyone we don't like policies of the US.

They did what you or I would do, fire up that reactor. At first for the electricity, and then for the protection nukes will give them.
