<War is evil and there are no real victors, and that is one reason I oppose it.

I'm not in agreement with Lee on his solution for the Mideast, but this statement is ludicrous. First of all, war is not evil if you are fighting to defend yourself and your values against an aggressor or a threat. Second, there are countless cases of victories in war throughout history, most of which were overwhelmingly beneficial for the victors and very bad for the losers.

In the old days, before people had developed the sensibilities they have now, and the words "moral" and "war" were rarely found within a mile of each other, a conqueror/looter would totally obliterate his foes and take over the place entirely. While a moral case can certainly be made against this kind of behavior, you can't argue that it worked for the thugs.
