"Stone-age living patterns?" Like what?
Marriage? Fidelity? Staying together and raising kids to adulthood? Is there anything I'm missing here?
Sorry I'm not "modern," like those who think it's just fine for kids to go steady at 12, or for parents to get divorced when your mate gets a bit chunky or you decide that your kids are keeping you from "finding yourself." Or think its just fine to get blown under the desk of the Oval Office after church, or pick up six new partners a week in a bar, or jam your johnson through a hole in a toilet stall wall for a good time. I can see where the concept of abstinence would fall a little flat in the modern world.
Just out of curiosity, are you married? How many kids?
