<Unmarried, 'living in sin' for many years with my nasty amoral lover. Contemplate having a (possibly) bastard child in the next few years, but no specific plans yet.
Boy, you could have knocked ME over with a feather. Not.
Or maybe you're just pulling my leg. If not, you have got to get away from that university.
And damn straight it's a privileged perspective. It's called commitment, and although religion is part of it in my case, it's not required. And it's something my kids are growing up with.
There are as many ANCIENT moralities that have worked for THOUSANDS of years as there are visible stars in the sky, and not all of them agree with your code.
Almost all of them have strong codes on marriage, behavior, and family. Maybe more than one wife, or more than one husband. Rituals are all over the map, but rituals there are. In almost any major culture you can point to, marriage and family are taken very seriously. Sure, the codes are sometimes violated. People are people everywhere. But nobody tries to pretend that morals and codes of behavior don't exist or are irrelevant.
