Wolfowitz's recent statements about WMD being some sort of beaurocratic PR tool make me nervous...more than that, they frankly give me a tinge of nausea. It's like he's testing the waters to see how we'll react if the story needs to be changed.
I supported military intervention in Iraq, and I'm glad Hussein is gone, but if WMD don't turn up in something at least resembling quantity, I think the issue will run extremely deep and cause a lot of Americans--myself included--to do some elemental soul-searching. There will be questions I've have to answer, at the very least to myself...questions about gullibility, culpability and faith in our most fundamental institutions. I think if the admin changes it's story, the consequences will be that profound.
Wolfowitz has badly skewed my view of this matter. Given his words, I now think the admin's gotta do some major disclosing, and it's gotta do it sooner rather than later.
Don's right...you can't kill thousands of people and then say "Oh, so sorry, we were mistaken." And you can't start a war and then say the single major reason given for military action was, in fact, simply a ploy to get people onboard.
This is sickening.
