re: Contamination from Mars - good point Tom

Tom,

Tom said "Actually, if you want to know the real problem with Mars contamination, it's going to be colonizing Mars with OUR bugs. You can irradiate probes and such, but if people ever get there, you can kiss pristine Mars goodbye."

How can anyone take a group like the Mars Society seriously if its own President doesn't see any need for forward or back contamination protocols in spite of what NASA's Planetary Protection Officer says? The only thing the Zubrinites care about is sending their carcasses to Mars where they would pollute it beyond measue. NASA knows this, the ESA knows this - that is why all the rediculous theatrics involving the Mars Society pretend "Mars Habitat" is futile. If they had a legitimate interest in Mars they would be concerned about planetary protection issues, but they don't. It is one big ego trip to see a man's footprints on Mars. That is so vain, because Mars could hold the key to understanding the evolution of life on Earth.
