The Mars Society announced an intention or thought they had a deal when in fact they didn't. It's quite possible neither one was lying. I was not involved and have no idea what the truth of the matter is here. I do know who has a long record of distorting the truth and a history of implying deception on the part of others that did not exist. So does nearly everyone else here. Barry has presented no evidence other than the initial news report clearly which did clearly indicate either miscommunication or misrepresentation.
The issue is should be did the MS make a good faith attempt to make good on its promise. I hope Pillinger can shed some light on that, but his reticence to name sponsors may make the issue unverifiable.

Mark
