I didn't mention single mothers.

There are enough people out there who have to have two paychecks just to put food on the table and pay the rent. And for clothes, and transportation, and child care. Grandma's at work too. Maybe the teenager down the street...

And why do single mothers exist? Because birth control either failed or was not used, because the men didn't stick around, and because the women didn't have abortions. You care to go around on that one again?

After you do the search on "free mammograms", do the search on "free surgery", "free radiation treatments", "free chemotherapy", "free post-mastectomy physical therapy" and "free reconstructive surgery". Well, maybe we don't need that last one. Poor women don't need to look good at party fundraisers, since they're never invited. You could also do a search on [+"medical leave" +"working poor"]. The sound coming out of your speakers is laughter.

Government typically gets into social programs to fill a vacuum that threatens to destabilize the civic structure. That creates an expectation that such programs will continue, and also creates a constituency for the programs. If there's all this free stuff out there, why isn't it taking care of everybody? Government services justify themselves through the number of people served. If private groups are doing it cheaper and better, government-served stats should drop.
