Liberals and compromise
Clinton got some heat on certain policies that ran against the leftist constituency too.
Among these was his support of the free trade agreements, which should have gotten him in much more hot water with the unions than it seemed to, and is one of the very few Clinton policies that I applauded.
Welfare reform got him some grief too. I didn't give him as much credit for this since, unlike with NAFTA, he was dragged kicking and screaming into it by the Republicans.
